Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is a boutique, Relais & Châteaux eco-safari-style resort, open seasonally to guests from all over the world. We are a true resort destination in that we own and operate our own adventures and activities, and, working closely with the Ahousaht First Nation, provide unprecedented, sustainable access to the UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve.
Luxurious Vancouver Island accommodations include 25 great, white canvas tents. These prospector-style accommodations are artfully arranged along the water’s edge, in the rainforest, and on the hillside overlooking the estuary. Each tent is unique and richly appointed with luxurious comforts that would be found at any of the 5-star resorts in Canada, including billowy duvets, antique furnishings, and propane-fueled, cast-iron stoves. Vintage oil lamps, as well as antique silver and crystal accents, complement electric lights and amenities, creating an experience that is authentic to previous periods as well as the present day.
Empirical data returned from wellness studies undertaken all over the world has proven what ancient wisdom has been telling us about the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature – that it’s good for us. And it is.
Naturally-sourced Vitamin N recalibrates: it helps boost our immune system, reduces stress and blood pressure, elevates focus and mood, accelerates healing, and improves our sleep/wake balance. By its very definition, wellness is the achievement of balance of the mind, spirit, and body that results in overall wellbeing.
Forest bathing (inhaling beneficial phytoncides), active and passive meditation in forests, unplugging (from technology) by choice, sleeping outdoors (tenting), nourishing your body with natural-source and organic foods, massaging your body, challenging your body, thrilling your psyche, immersing yourself in a demonstrably remote and authentically wild environment, childlike play, and doing nothing at all are all prescriptive for improved wellness.
